Institutional Development Plan
Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (VIPS), Rajahmundry, established with a vision to impart quality pharmaceutical education and promote research-driven learning, has consistently strived for academic excellence and holistic student development. The institution has been accredited with a NAAC ‘A’ Grade and has recently been conferred with Autonomous Status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for a period of ten years (2025–2026 to 2034–2035). With this new phase of autonomy, VIPS is committed to strengthening its academic framework, enhancing research output, ensuring 100% placement assistance, and developing globally competent pharmacy professionals who are industry-ready and socially responsible. A robust internal governance structure is in place to ensure smooth functioning, participative management, and continuous quality enhancement.
Over the next years, Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences aims to strengthen its position as a centre of academic excellence through a comprehensive and forward-looking development strategy. Under the newly conferred autonomous status, the institution is committed to enhancing academic excellence and outcome-based education by designing flexible, industry-relevant curricula that align with current pharmaceutical and healthcare trends. The teaching and learning process will emphasize 100% result-oriented practices, integrating advanced pedagogical tools such as digital classrooms, simulation-based learning, and experiential teaching methods to ensure conceptual clarity and skill development among students.
In the domain of research and innovation, the institution envisions establishing dedicated research clusters and centres of excellence to foster a culture of inquiry, innovation, and intellectual growth. Efforts will be directed towards encouraging interdisciplinary and translational research and building collaborative partnerships with industries, universities, and research organizations, thereby creating a vibrant research ecosystem.
Strengthening industry linkages and experiential learning remains a core priority. VIPS will enhance real-world exposure for students through regular industrial visits, internships, workshops, and expert lectures by industry professionals. The institution will develop strong industry–academia collaborations to support joint projects, research initiatives, and specialized training programs while incorporating problem-based learning and case studies into the academic framework to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
For student development and placement, the institution is dedicated to achieving 100% placement assistance by implementing strategic training programs, communication and personality development workshops, and structured pre-placement interactions with leading pharmaceutical companies. The alumni network will be strengthened to facilitate mentorship and professional guidance, while entrepreneurship development programs will be promoted to nurture a start-up culture and innovation mindset among students.
Recognizing the importance of holistic growth, VIPS will continue to encourage extra-curricular and co-curricular activities aimed at personality development, leadership, and teamwork. Students will be motivated to actively participate in sports, cultural events, community outreach programs, NSS and IIC activities, complemented by life-skill, entrepreneurial and soft-skill enhancement programs that foster confidence, empathy, and social responsibility.
The institution also envisions significant progress in infrastructure and digital advancement by upgrading laboratories, classrooms, and ICT-enabled learning environments to meet modern educational demands. Expansion of digital libraries, e-learning resources, and implementation of sustainability initiatives will further contribute to creating a technologically advanced and eco-friendly campus.
Finally, to ensure sustained excellence, VIPS will institutionalize quality assurance and continuous improvement through regular academic audits, structured feedback mechanisms, and alignment with NAAC, NBA, and NIRF benchmarks. Faculty development will be prioritized through continuous training, faculty development programs (FDPs), MOOCs, and international collaborations, fostering a culture of lifelong learning and academic innovation.
With its NAAC ‘A’ grade accreditation and the conferment of autonomous status, Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences envisions a transformative decade marked by innovation, quality education, and student-centric growth. The institution remains steadfast in its mission to nurture globally competent, ethical, and skilled pharmacy professionals who can contribute meaningfully to healthcare, industry, and society.
